Human Environment Interaction:
How people affect their environment and how their environment affects them.
1) How do people use their environment?
2) How have they changed their environment?
3) How do people respond to their environment?
An example of a polder which takes flooded fields and turns it into usable land.
(Polders run on power made from windmills.)
Venice is sinking at a rate of around one half inch every century.
(Boats become a main source of transportation because o the flooding.)
These windmills are the source of power to the polders.
(The polders are key to the survival and re-creation of the land.)
As you can see, the streets are very narrow to make up for the amount of water the canals hold.
(The water is overtaking the city, boats have become the main method of transportation and cars and becoming more useless.)
How can we use this technology in the US? We can use the same technology that venice is using in the US to help prevent flooding after natural disasters like hurricanes and natural floods. We could use windmills to power polders which could drain out the water after a natural disaster.
