Background: Issues- Coral bleaching, pollution and industrialization. Coral bleaching is a negative issue because the water temperature have been going up and down drastically and animals have to leave their homes. The pollution in the great barrier reef has a negative impact on the wildlife and the water. Now the ⅓ of the great barrier reef is exposed to pesticides. Finally the industrialization has a negative impact on the great barrier reef by dumping tonnes of seabed and rock. Dumping the rocks and seabed a hurt the wildlife in the great barrier reef and the homes of the wildlife. The time period the three issues have happened are 1998 and 2002 for coral bleaching, and for pollution and industrialization is still happening. The only people that have been involved in the issues are the Australian government. What causes the coral bleaching is water temperature fluctuations and for pollution and industrialization the people of Australia are the causes of pollution and industrialization.
Theme: Place and Human environmental interaction. Place because of where it is located with the fluctuations in the climate and that would be a cause to the coral bleaching in the Great barrier reef. Human environmental interaction would be how the Australians use the Great barrier reef like pollution by dumping pesticides and other harmful items in the Great barrier reef and the industrialization would increase the pollution in the Great barrier reef.
Current Issues: The people that are currently getting affected by the coral bleaching, pollution, and industrialization would be the wildlife in the Great barrier reef because with coral bleaching they lose their homes so the fish have no where to go and they have to survive in the open until the get a new home and with pollution and industrialization the fish are dying because of the toxins and if we keep polluting we might kill and entire species that we haven't even found yet or discovered. What is being done to stop the issues on the Great barrier reef is that the Australians are reducing the dumping and polluting in the great barrier reef, but they cant do anything about coral bleaching because it is all up to nature.
