Pyramids were built for the tombs of most pharaohs. The biggest pyramid was called The Pyramid of Giza. The pyramid is five hundred feet tall. That is about as tall as the world's highest roller coaster. For a structure built back in ancient times, that is pretty high! That's why I think the pyramids are one of the most interesting things in Egypt.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"26415369","dateCreated":"1282915434","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"sewen","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/sewen","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1256135246\/sewen-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/ewenclass.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/26415369"},"dateDigested":1531975646,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Welcome!","description":"Here is your assignment today:

\nOn this website there were many things that caught my eye as interesting about the Egyptians. I found out that Egyptians had 2000 gods and godesses. Most of the time their gods and godesses were thought to be part human and part animal. Egyptians thought that the world began in an ocean of darkness and belived that they would have a better life in the next world.","dateCreated":"1282916266","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"jretzke1996","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/jretzke1996","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"26415745","body":"

\n Babylonians were a group of ancient people who lived in the Fertlie Crescent until about 2500 years ago. Even though they lived in a dry area, the two rivers surrounding them kept land fertile for farming. \nBabylon is an Akkadian "babilini" which means "the Gate of God(s)" and it became the capital of Babylonia. Before Babylon was a city, it was a provincial capital ruled by the kings of the city of Ur. Babylonia was bordered on the north by Assyria, on the east by Elam, on the south and west by the Arabian Desert, and the southeast by the Persain Gulf. About 1270 BC, the Assyrians overpowered Babylonia. For the next 700 years, Babylonia was a lesser power as the Assyrians dominated the ancient world. Around 726 BC, Babylonian independence was finally won from Assyria by a leader named Nabopolassar. Under his leadership, Babylonia became the dominant imperial power in the Near East and thus entered into her "golden age."","dateCreated":"1282916498","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"jodonnell1996","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/jodonnell1996","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"26415851","body":"

\nI searched egyptian religion and found many things.Egyptian religion was based on the worship of many gods and goddesses. If fact, the egyptians had more than 2000 gods and godesses. But not all were worshipped across the whole country, some were only local beliefs. Many egyptians devoted their entire life and wealth to try to prepare for a good afterlife. Some animals were seen as holy or sacred such as the cat, the bull, or the crocodile.","dateCreated":"1282916517","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"rmalinski1996","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/rmalinski1996","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"26415891","body":"
