Most of the time their gods and godesses were thought to be part human and part animal. About 1270 BC, the Assyrians overpowered Babylonia. For the next 700 years, Babylonia was a lesser power as the Assyrians dominated the ancient world. But not all were worshipped across the whole country, some were only local beliefs. Many egyptians devoted their entire life and wealth to try to prepare for a good afterlife.
