\nI found it interesting that the Phoenicians began to develop trade and manufacturing. The Phoenicians counmtry was a narrow strip or the Syrian coast. There area was so small that they were forced to turn to the sea for living. One place in Phoenicia is Tyre known for being the center of the purple dye industry. Another well known place in Phonicia that is well known is Sidon the center of the glass industry.","dateCreated":"1282929400","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"kmcmaken1996","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/kmcmaken1996","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1282943659\/kmcmaken1996-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"26428269","body":"

\nWe all know the egyptians believed in the after life, but did you know the mummification process. The priests would usually try one last time to bring back the deceased, after the body was cleasned and then the organs would be removed. The body was packed with a salt called natron for forty days, afterwards the insides were filled with sawdust, natron, linen, and resin. The body was wrapped in bandages with jewelry and amulets between each layer, then the Chief Embalmer put a mask on the mummy. The process took around 70 days and when the body was put into it's tomb, they usually put in games, furniture, food, and so on for the souls afterlife, after this the priest would do a ritual called the "Opening of the Mouth," it wassuppose to grant the dead with the power to speak and eat so it can do just that in the afterlife, after this the tomb was sealed, intersing huh?","dateCreated":"1282929507","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"wpaulick1996","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/wpaulick1996","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"26428287","body":"

\nI found interesting about people in the acient egyptians on this website was that they didn't put locks on doors. Instead of putting locks they built walls surround them and put security. Now of days they consider egyptology the oldest discipline of acient men. Some egyptians came to overcoming an great offical, when others failed. There is traditions and other things we still do. Such as, children still play with toys and teenagers play with games. I thought it was interestiing that egyptians would do these things, I personally thought that they would work all day long.","dateCreated":"1282929530","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"tberreles1996","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/tberreles1996","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"26428291","body":"

http:\/\/www.ancientegypt.co.uk\/menu.html<\/a> On this website I clicked on mummification and found some interesting facts. When an egyptian died others buried then in holes in the desert. They found out that the bodies would dry up because of the sun and it caused them to become "mummies". Later they found out that putting them in coffins to stop the animals from getting them caused them to start to decompose. They started wrapping their dead in cloth so they could keep the from decomposing. I also found out what their writing was like from the website. It said that they used hieroglyphics as their way of writing and it has over 600 hundred symbols and pictures.","dateCreated":"1282929644","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"rcrutcher1996","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/rcrutcher1996","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"26428371","body":"http:\/\/www.bible-history.com\/babylonia\/BabyloniaHistory_of_Babylonia.htm<\/a>

\nThe potter's wheel was first used in Sumer shortly after 3500 B.C. A sail model of the oldest sail boat was found in a sumerian grave from around 3500 B.C., and soon after wheeled vehicles appeared in the form of a horse drawn war chariot. During the fith millennium B.C. a group of people known as the Ubaidians settled in the area that would soon be Sumer. Their settlments soon became Sumerian cheif cities.","dateCreated":"1282929770","smartDate":"Aug 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"eproctor1995","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/eproctor1995","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"26428401","body":"
